Yes, this trip was awesome as usual. We had a good amount of people come but not like i was expecting. It was nice when we got there as the first group and people started to show up later and at different times of the night and morning, then everyone went on their expeditions and we all had a blast. I was one to go climbing and we had a nice turn out on climbers and it was so much fun. Props to Cortney who did her first lead climb and did an awesome job and was climbing very well. Both joshs' showed all of us up as usual since they are just great climbers. Chris was climbing good but man he should of kept climbing more. Then we had some people without gear and we all shared harnesses and shoes so everyone could give it. It was definitly a blast, then some of us left early and went to winslow to go to the lake and most of the people acutally jumped of the cliff into the FREEZing cold water but it was fun as helll. Then we came back and i went back down the canyon to find cortney, josh, and mike and we did some night climbing and i cleaned my first route at night and it was very excillerationg. Well thats all. In all it was awesome and hope to see yall on our future trips.

That would be me. I've had worse.
I really wanted to go rock climbing, but I thought that it was only for people who had the right gear, and I didn't. Does anyone know how much does it cost for renting all that stuff for a day?
Cheers, Alexis

Alexis,
I know you can rent rock climbing gear from REI on Southern and Priest. I don't think it's too pricey and all you really need are shoes and a harness, since the rest of the gang is loaded up with ropes and all that jazz. I know members of REI receive discounts on purchases, which might also apply to gear rental. Sorry I couldn't be of any pricing help, but I know someone else on here knows those details.
P.S. Sorry you fell into cactus...OUCH! You are going to have so much fun rock climbing though...hehe! ;D

I love rock climbing, I'm just trying to be a little bit more financially responsible, so if anyone does have any pricing details I would really appreciate it.
I'm an REI member so I guess I should try that, thanks!
Austin: For the record, the water at Winslow was NOT freezing. The water at the Blue Ridge Reservoir was freezing.

$12 for 3 days - rock climbing shoes (REI member price) They don't rent harnesses due to liability, but a bunch of us have extras. I'll probably lead a beginner trip some time for a weekend so peeps can get full use out of the shoe rentals. Or there's always the gym ($14 for pass & gear if you say you're an ASU student)

And then there is the one. You know who you are. We all do. That guy that just seems to wake up before everyone else does, and our first memory of the morning is of you, sitting at the fire. Just there. Just awake. It's kinda creepy. Haha yeah, once I'm up, I'm up. Not like the rest of you lucky bastards that wake up and go back to sleep five times in the morning. I'm sorry, but some of you do some funny things when you wake up.:-P We all jumped in the water at least once, and all I can say was there was some major shrinkage going on. One brave fool actually swam to the other side of the lake where all the wild bears and monkeys live. We took pictures and hoped for a potential action shot, but sadly, nothing happened. Action shot... I swam all the way over to that damn rock and then when I got there, there was like 5 feet of rock jutting away from it just under the water. :-( But at least I tattooed that rock with: CJ AOC 2005.
