I would like to find someone else who is interested in kayaking the Escalante river its a 70mile trip that ends at lake powell. Cost should be minimal. The river is a class II which is not a problem. Only thing is making sure the river has enough water, its early for the river so it may not be possible if the river is not high enough. But right now I just want to know if anyone else is interested?

I am going to move this trip to May right after finals. Instead I am thinking Havasupi for spring break...I just called and they have permits available. If anyone is interested let me know asap and I can get a permit.

Kevin,
I'd definitely be interested in that kayaking trip. That's easily one of my favorite things to do.
As for Spring Break, I know of one group on campus that's already heading down to Havasupai, so I might tag along with them. However, we can certainly see if we can drum up some AOC interest as well. The permits are relatively cheap compared to the National Park ones, aren't they?

As far as Havasupi permits its $35 a person to enter and then $17 a night with a couple other fees for garbage collection and what not.
For the escalante river trip we are going to need two cars one at the river put in and at the take out.

I'm down for kayaking after finals. Do we rent kayaks, and how much?

I'd also be down for kayaking if I haven't gone home by the time this trip happens. Also, do you know if there are any good higher class rivers, more around 3-3+ in the area? A whitewater trip on a medium river might also be fun.
I don't have a car, by the way.
