8 months ago, I bought an iriver T10 mp3 player. It has been my best friend since, and I give it a solid five stars!! I wear this darn thing everywhere, the mountains, the gym, Paris, Germany, Chicago, Mexico, the beach, the forest, snow skiing, bicycling, rollerblading cooking, yard work, everything. Everywhere! It has never failed me. My only regret is that I bought the 512mb instead of the 1 gig.
The manual says you can only transfer music through WMP version 10, but I just use windows explorer and it works just fine. Drag and Drop, that’s what I like. I complained for months about it not having a playlist feature, but just now reading the manual, it says you can transfer your WMP playlist as well, (I’ll have to try that) (all this time I didn’t know!! Arrg) **Update: I just went to the manufactures website and found an updated driver, that allows you to make a (1) playlist on the device it’s self, as well as import others from WMP. Should have looked there months ago!**
It has many fine features, but the ones I like most, are the built in mic. I’ve used it in class pretty well. Also, it can record the radio well if it has a clear signal. But more than that, I hook it to a small portable speaker set and go to sleep to it every night and set the sleep timer for a half and hour/hour, and it automatically turns off.
The next best thing, is the 1 AA battery it uses. The box says it should last 45 hours on one battery, I get about 30 (still great) but I’m also powering small external speakers with it as well every night. (I’ve just been rotating my rechargeable batteries, between my headlamp and mp3player.)
What I like about the AA battery, is that while backpacking or bicycling, it’s easy to swap out a dead battery. An Ipod, you’d have to recharge the battery through a computer, or some expensive car adapter. (not happening in the bottom of the Grand Canyon suck’as)
Also unlike the Ipod, you can connect it from computer to computer no problem, without it removing your songs. As well as being a hell of a lot more durable.
Yep the iriver T10 and it’s comfortable sports case/armband have traveled thousands of miles already, and thousands of miles yet to come. I’d recommend it over the Ipod anyday.
