We tried to do this trip a few weeks back, but it got rained out so we're going again! Salome Jug is a awesome technical (easy) canyon just east of roosevelt lake. It is a major drainage so the water levels can vary significantly. It involves some boulder hopping, sliding, jumping, easy climbing and one rappell into a pool of water! What: Canyoneering Where: The Jug When and where to meet: Saturday, October 21th @ 8:00am from the McDonald's on Rural and Lemon. Return Saturday evening in time for the Rocky Horror Picture Show Cost of trip: Gas Money - About $8 Trip leader / Contact info: Mike Zysman mike@deserttrends.com What to bring: Daypack, hiking boots/ shoes, 1-2 liters water, lunch, snacks, extra dry clothes, headlamp/ helmet, harness, carabiner, belay device, dry bags, full wetsuit, etc. Other info: The route is about 5 miles and should take 6 hours. 2 hours of that time will be an easy trail hike there and back. This is a great introductory canyoneering trip! If you need a harness, belay device, or wetsuit please email me ASAP. Also let me know if you have a 4-wheel drive vehicle. If you're not signed up on the official trip sheet, but would like to go you need to contact Mike in advance so we can make sure there's enough gear for everyone. If you happen to have an extra wetsuit you'd like to donate we'll comp your gas money! Actual pictures of The Jug:
