hey gang, I've been at this for a while, so I know the shpeil, but when someone asks what does the ourdoor club do, respond (first with a deep intake of air)
"We go, hiking, biking, backpacking, camping, caving, canyoneering, splunking, rockclimbing, rappelling, canoeing, kyaking, skiing, snowskiing, waterskiing, skydiving, (that's where many people will stop you), cliffdiving, rollerblading, skateboarding, dancing, roadtripping, mountain biking, dirt biking, road biking, off roading, 4-wheeling, ATCing, horseback ridding, GeoCashing (uses Long and Lat cordinates to find a cashbox) clubbing, karreoking, pumkin carving, gambling (vegas trips), racing, volenteering, caroling, Tubing, gold panning, swimming, diving, hanggliding, bungejumping, surviving (survival courses), Partying, socializing, networking, cross-culteralizing, and anything that ends in ING...."
Also, when asked were we travel to, reply,
"gennerally anywere you can drive to in one day, which covers all of arizona, and a greater part of the the southwest. including, California, Newmexico, colorado, utah, and mexico." but for more lengthier weekends and spring break, we've lead trips to New Orleans, Central America, Hawwai, New York, Prag, Wales, With a New years trip to Paris comming up! they world is our stompping grounds"
What are some of the natural spots the outdoor club has traved to? or places one should go while they are in the southwest?
The Grand Canyon! (a must)
Canyon De Chelly (I personally think is more beautiful than the Grand Canyon)

The petrified Forest (actually preaty cool)
Sedona (the healing center of the world according to some)
Havasupi Falls (a branch of the grand canyon)
Colorado River and it's hotsprings
Verde hot springs
Safford hot springs (I recomend this one for a clothes optional trip)

The Superstitoin mountains
The white mountains
South Mountain
Camelback Mountians
Sunrise Ski Resort (near the New Mexico Boarder)

Meteror Crater (near Flaggstaff)
Deer Farm Arizona (a farm with about 100 deers, near flagstaff)
Four Corners (yep you can actually be in four states at once)
Hover Dam
and many many more places,
What are some of the other trips we've lead not technically outdoors? Remember this is a travel club, and a social club too! (That's why in 1964 when the club was formed, it was called the Arizona Outing club, and still is today) Outing as in get out and do something other than watch tv. We go beyond being just an outdoor club.
"In the last few years, we've had trips to "The Price is Right Game show" Six Flaggs Cal., Disney Land, Rocky point Mexico, Ensanada Mexico, Holly Wood, Sanfrancisco, Sandiago zoo, bar, and beaches, Mardi Gria, Vegas,Glen Canyon Dam Tour, Concerts, Music festivals, Dance clubs, Poker nights, Movie nights, Holloween parties and pumkin carving, Slip in Slide parties, dinner parties, Mystery Dinners, Haunted Houses, Art walks and festivals, Happy hour, Desert parties, Formals, pool parties, Guitar groups, painting and drawing gatherings, baking parties, costume contests, scrap book parties/photo exchange parties, Carnivals, science exhibits, lectures and presentations, book signings, and I think you get the idea.... anything you are interested, with four hundred members, there's usually a few people that share your taste and intrests....."
I Guess that's it for now,
I've been in this club for six year now, and have probably lead almost a hundred trips, so I'm kinda familure with the process, and would like to offer my experience, advice, and opinion to all of those who would like to lead a trip but don't know how.
just leave your questions here, or email me at azrobrob@hotmail.com
Remember that ths is a member driven club, which means it's up to the members (you) to make it interesting and active. the officers are there to help make the open forum a smoother process, and have fun themselves. So lead some trips! I'd love to go on some other peoples planned trips for a while!
See you on the Road -Rob
