THE RIVER: The Kern River begins high on Mount Whitney--the highest peak in the Continental U.S. We will raft a section through the Sequoia National Forest from Lake Isabella to the Democrat Hot Springs (approximately 20 miles). The rapids in this section are rated class IV and V although lower water this time of year will make them a bit easier. In other words as exciting as they are beginners are still welcome.
ITINERARY: 9/15 1:30pm meet, 2:00pm Leave, 10:00pm arrive at campsite & eat dinner 9/16 7:00am break camp, 8:00am get permits, 8:30am rig boats, run shuttle & eat breakfast 9:00am begin rafting, 1:00pm eat lunch, 4:00pm take out & run shuttle, 5:00pm depart
COST: $90.00/person (includes gas money, rafting equipment, dinner Fri. night, breakfast & lunch Sat.) Drivers and Trip Leader go for 1/3 of the cost. Your deposit is non-refundable.

BRING: Sleeping bag, tent &/or tarp (if you have one), small mattress, warm clothes (avoid cotton), swimsuit, raingear, shoes you can get wet or sandals with ankle straps, flashlight or headlamp, water bottle, plastic mug, silverware, sunscreen, toiletries, cameras, ect.
