Helluva meeting last night, huh? Sorry about the late start and the craziness -- it was the first meeting and we had 70 members join last night alone! All those sign-ups took a few minutes. Anyhow, future meetings should go more smoothly.
So, this is your once-weekly trip email detailing the stuff you need to know to make this a fantastic AOC-fun-filled week. Here we go:
Trips this Week:
What: Welcome Back, Jungle-Themed Pool Party!!!
Where: Ocean Planet Scuba (located on Broadway, just east of the Walgreens on Broadway and Mill)
When and where to meet: The party starts @ 7:30pm at Ocean Planet. Walk, bike, or carpool if you can cause there will be a LOT of people attending. If you drive, you may need to park in the Walgreens parking lot next door. There's no ending time for this event -- we'll be there late.
Cost of trip: FREE for members; $5 for non-members, so bring your friends too!
What to bring: Crazy jungle attire, blow-up animals if ya got 'em, swimsuit & towel

Other info: Our theme is Call of the Wild Jungle; we'll have a DJ, lights, and a fog machine; there will be assorted snacky foods and "beverages"; there is also a GIGANTIC 80' pool. Should be an AWESOME time!

When and where to meet: Around 8:00pm at the PRG on Wednesday and Monday-- we'll be there until close @ 10:00pm
Cost of trip: $9 (with 10% member discount) for entry, $5 for gear rental; 50% off entry if it's your first time at the PRG

Other info: Josh says, "I've been running with a group every Wed and Sat (have mentioned it to a few) and just wanted to post the details. It's for all abilities from beginner to experienced, free, water & sports drink provided, and several groups go out ranging from ~3-4mi / ~6 mi / 8-10+ miles, and you can always turn back early if you want to do something shorter or in between the set distances. 10 minute miles are not unheard of if you're worried about speed. There is no pressure, lots of support, and it's great fun and exercise! Of course there are always people willing to run faster if you want to push yourself. The runs leave at the above times, so arrive early. Remember, it's always much easier to run with a group than by yourself!"

When and where to meet: 6:00pm Friday @ the McDonalds on Rural and Lemon. We will be back in the early afternoon of Sat., in plenty of time to make it to the party.

The cliff jumping trip returned at about 4:00pm last Sunday but there's no guarantee that it will be back early enough to make the hike. Also, after hiking in and out of Gisela and also being in the sun all day, you may not be in the mood to do another hike."

Other info: Rob says, "Hey all you of you two left footers! We are once again heading Salsa dancing. For those of you that were here last year, you know that we had a rather large group going pretty regularly. For those of you that are new to the club; this is an excellent way to get out and move. This trip is for all level of Salsa and Cha-cha dancers. For the beginners, don't panic! We will be attending the one hour dance lesson from 8pm to 9pm, then after that we will practice our new skills. I'm not great myself, but I understand the basics, and am willing to provide further help. This trip is also not limited to members, so bring a friend, a date, or by yourself, and meet some new friends. (during the lessons you switch partners every two minuets so don't think you need to bring one). A lot of people like to dress a little classy or flashy, but is not necessary, all that you really do need is shoes that you can spin on a smooth dance floor on. It is an 18 year or older trip, and the cost is $6 for the entry fee. We will be meeting at the McDonalds on Rural just East of ASU between Apache and Lemon St. at 7:40 pm and carpooling over to Red Owl (SW corner of University and the 101, behind Jack-in-a-box) at 7:50 sharp! We will be coming back to ASU around 11pm."

Labor Day Road Trip
When: Labor day Weekend Sat 2nd morning –Sunday 3rd late night!
Where: all over Northern Arizona

Master Road trip planners Treasure Matt and Rob will be once again leading a massive labor day weekend excursion to northern Arizona, the plans are not finalized as of yet, but roughly we will be renting two fifteen passenger vans and leaving sat morning, driving up north to Horseshoe Bend, Lake Powel, Glen Canyon Damn, Antelope Canyon (depending on the price), maybe Wire-Pass (a slot canyon), Then the next day spend a while hiking and driving around the Grand Canyon. Then if there is still Daylight, driving to Sedona and seeing the Red Rocks there. (feel free to look these fantastic spots up on the internet!!) Coming back Late Sun night, so you can still go tubing down the salt river or some other fun activity Monday. We will be camping at Lake Powel in soft sand, the water is perfect temperature for a night swim.
We are projecting the cost of this trip (excluding souvenirs and food) to be between $60 and $80 (that covers, Van rental, gas, park entrees fees). I know this information is incomplete but I promise we will have it more solidified by next Tuesday's meeting. We will also be accepting a $40 deposit to ensure your spot, and so we know how many vans to rent. This trip last year had 30 people go, I'm hoping for more this year!! I will soon be leading a caving trip back to PepperSauce caves. This is a highly popular AOC trip. We typically have 15-20 people go. What is it exactly?? Well first you crawl through a small hole in the ground getting muddy, then you stand up into a large cavern and you explore the undergrounds for the next few hours using flashlights and your keen night vision. It's a whole new experience if you've never been in a cave. I will be providing more information about this trip, in the next couple of weeks. – rob

Where: Vegas Baby!
I will be attending a wedding in Vegas the afternoon of Oct 22 (a Sunday) so I would like to get there Saturday and come home Monday (I don't have school Monday's Suck'as!) and I would like to share the cost of the hotel room with 2-20 extra people. If a lot of people show interest, we can get a more luxurious room and fit more people in it. If someone wants to organize a group to go Friday night, I would be wiling to help coordinate.
