Ok gang! Here’s the info everyone’s been dying to hear.
Labor Day weekend Massive Road Trip. I’ve got three 15 passenger vans reserved, so let’s fill them up!!
9:30 am Saturday Morning, we leave from McDonalds (Just East of ASU between Apache and Lemon on Rural) (don’t leave cars there) drive for two hours and get out and do a ¼ mile hike to The Natural Bridge*, as well as eat a sack lunch. Then back into the vans for another couple of hours drive to Horseshoe Bend* for about a ½ mile hike. Then back in the vans! Somewhere we’ll stop along side of the road and check out the dirt cheep Indian jewelry, so bring an extra $5-10 buck for that. If there is time, we’ll take a tour of the Glen Canyon Damn (totally impressive engineering.) Then to the city Page, where we will stop for food, hit the grocery store, and get some beverages for the party by the lake latter on. Back in the Vans! Half an hour later, we’ll be at Lake Powell (Lone Rock*) on the Utah side of the boarder. Here we will camp for the night under bright stars. The water is perfect temperature for night swimming, the sand is soft, so you don’t need a matt to sleep on. The air temperature should be just right (bring a light jacket and jeans if you get cold easily.) I will bring two 10 man tents (so if you don’t have a tent, don’t worry they’ll be space), wood for a bon-fire, plastic forks, knives, spoons, cups, trash bags, and a few cooking pans. What you’ll need is a sleeping bag (I recommend either Wal-Mart [Alma School and Apache Rd] or Big 5 Sporting Goods is closer, [Southern and Rural Rd] both have bags from $12-20 bucks, and somehow to cook what ever you bring. There are Restrooms at the beach, for all your private needs.
The Next day, we’ll swim, play Frisbee, football, until everyone is packed, then we’ll head off to Antelope Canyon* for some photographing of a life time. Then once we’ve had our fix, we’ll hit the vans for Page, have a quick lunch, (they have an all you can eat KFC!!) then to the Main attraction, THE GRAND CANYON!* We will spend the remainder of the day driving and hiking around the south rim. From there, if we still have time, we’ll try to jet over to Sedona to watch the sunset on the red rocks. Finally we will head home late in the evening (Sunday night,) after everyone is all partied out.
This trip promises, Awesome Sight Seeing! Rock bottom Pricing! Chance to Meets tons of new people! Adventure, memories, and photo’s to make your friends and family back home jealous!
Cost: the projected cost of this trip is $65 (maybe less). $80 Max. (sometimes things happen). There is a $40 deposit due before Thursday night (you can drop the deposit off with mike at the info booth in front of the MU, Wed and Thursday 10am-2pm). Then bring an additional $20 with you on the trip to be collected at the beginning. (last year everyone got 10 bucks back at the end. We’ll work it out as we go along)
What to bring:

Other: this is going to be a great trip! It is open to both members and non members, (first ones to bring a deposit). The exact timeline and events may change slightly due to unforeseeable events. (traffic, weather, Mob Rule) so please forgive me if everything doesn’t go exactly as planned.
