Other info: Cayoneering is the act of exploring canyons on foot. It involves some techniques beyond simple hiking. This canyon may require some scrambling, swimming, bushwhacking, and short down-climbing. The route descends 760’ over 7 miles. This is a remote area and there are NO services (food, water, toilets). This trip promises spectacular canyon narrows, and epic adventures. This is a great introductory, though challenging canyoneering trip!

Hi AOC Canyoneers,
Here's some additional information about the canyoneering trip this weekend:
First, the weather forecast call for a chance of rain and T-storms this weekend. The trip
could be cancelled if there's a risk of flash floods in the canyon. We'll watch the weather and
flow rates over the next few days.
The temperatures should be 80's during the day and 50's at night. Expect the river water to
be COLD!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What you need to bring:
Large backpack to hold all your stuff
Sleeping bag
1 or 2 dry bags (i recommend a couple SealLine See 20's - about $20ea)
Hiking boots/ sturdy shoes (sandals are not recommended - ask Josh)
Waterbottles/ Camelbak (2L)
Small flashlight/ Headlamp
Large Garbage bags
Warm clothes for two days:
I recommend nylon pants, wool socks, polypro shirts, and a fleece jacket.
Also rain gear is recommended.
Food for 2 days:
Some suggestions are Mountain House freeze dried foods from REI, canned soups,
granola bars, fruit, trail mix, sandwiches, oatmeal, hot chocolate...
Do not bring anything that could be destroyed by getting wet. If you bring a non-waterproof
camera, I recommend a watertight Pelican case. You can also double Zip-loc it and then dry bag
it and it might survive.
Options things to bring:
2-3 person tent (Let me know if you have space to share)
Light weight cooking stove/ Cookware/ Fuel (Let me know if you have a stove to share)
GPS
Wet Suit
Sleeping Pad

If you need any gear, please contact me ASAP so we can make arrangements.
