I just wanted to say hi to everyone in the AOC! I miss you all and I miss AZ! I'm doing the lab rat thing this summer before I start my PhD program in the fall... If you feel like getting out here to sunny, *cooler*, beautiful Cali, head my way (in Irvine- part of the O.C.!) Oh the bright side, there is an awesome rock gym not too far from here and tons of outdoors stuff to do nearby... just wait for it: the UCIrvine AOC (maybe for Anteater Outdoors Club, yes, it is sad going from a sundevil to an anteater.). XOXO -Denise

I almost ended up at UCI for my PhD program, but instead opted to come to ASU. So I'm also doing the lab rat thing, but locally.
What department are you in?

Hey Bob, welcome to the AOC! Even though I'm not the welcoming committee anymore... But anyway, I'm in MBGB (Molecular Biology, Genetics, and Biochemistry). I'm working on environmental obesogens in mouse cells, kind of a new thing, basically are man made chemicals contributing to the obesity epidemic. I'm hoping to end up in a lab where I can research tumors and novel treatments. What are you studying? Denise

I work for Dr. Friesen in the newly formed School of Materials Engineering. He has some ideas on how to improve fuel cell efficiency so most of my summer has been the basics of electro chemistry. It's been a strange transition from metallurgist to chemist.
