LOVE the AOC??? Are you responsible, hard working, selfless, team player, etc etc? *See disclaimer* Consider becoming an AOC officer!!!
Any member can run for secretary, treasurer, VP, off campus and on campus promotions. Strictly speaking, only a past officer is allowed to run for president. Because there might not be an ideal situation this year the closest thing would be a member that has been involved for 2 or more years now who really has a good idea of the workings of the club.
There are a lot of new things ASU is doing next year for student organizations. Also, it is a very big commitment and it can have you pulling your hair out at times, but it is also a very rewarding experience that does look good on a resume! As such, we are now open to talk and answer questions for people who are considering it. Please come talk to me about it, Rick is also an invaluable resource as well as Rob.
Denise
*Disclaimer* A big word of caution, from something I have learned this year: most every club decision that you make as an officer (not for individually-led trips), especially as president, are based on the member's wants and needs and requests, and not on your own. Being an officer, you will sometimes make decisions and do things that aren't what you want or agree with or like best, because the group as a whole is more important. It can be hard to put personal stuff aside, so think about this carefully and make sure you are willing to do it!!!
PS It really is a lot of fun!!!

here are some anonymous quotes from past officers,
"Best experience I had in college"
"most rewarding non-paying job I've ever done"
"I'd say about 80% of my closest friends I have, I made in the club, while I was an officer"
"being an officer of the AOC is a gateway position to being an executive of your own company"
"Once you have AOC fever you can't stop!" Right Rick?
bla bla bla
The real scoop is, you'll never know how good it feels to be an officer of one of the biggest clubs on campus, and to have facial recognition all over tempe, (a.k.a Big man on campus), untill you've tried it. You can't help but make friends, they flock to you. it's hard work, but also being on-campus promotions officer was the best year of my life, and being president was the second best, and being secretary was the third best. and I've had a lot of years of life to compaire with. see what I'm saying? It's well worth any work you have to put in. And truely these ARE the memories that will last you a life time.
*Disclaimer* we are not part of the communistic party. It's not that the good of the many outweigh the good of the one, it's more of a democracy, and we put it to a vote.
Ps. Guys, you'll get chicks, and ladies you'll have your pick of guys. Pps. Unless your in a commited relationship that is, (then you can just make your g/b-friend jellouse routinely)

Current candidates for 2006-07 officer positions:
President: Kevin M.
Vice President: Bobby
Secretary: Jackie
Treasurer: Matt
Webmaster: Josh
On-Campus Promotions: Mike
Off-Campus Promotions: Nicole
Make sure you attend the April 25th meeting to announce your intentions for a position if you wish to make the ballot.
Also, there is rumor pizza will be available to all those members who show to that meeting and cast a vote (or lots of left over pizza to take home if few people show). Remember, you can't complain if you don't voice an opinion! ;D
