Volunteer Opportunities
Front Desk Assistant: Responsible for assisting the Client Facilitator in directing all office activity. (M-F 7:30–11:00am & 1:00-3:00pm, 2-4 hours per week, long-term commitment)
Shopper: Clients are often in need of particular work equipment. The Shopper would be responsible for obtaining the needed items. (Flexible schedule, 1-8 hours per month)
Job/Life Skills Class Instructor: The Job/Life Skills Class is held every Tuesday from 8:30am to 11:00am. Topics covered include attitude, applications, resumes and interviews. (Tuesdays 8:30-11:00am, 3 hours per month, long-term commitment)
Practice Interviewer: Helps to prepare clients of St. Joseph the Worker for job interviews by creating as realistic an experience as possible. (M-F 8:00-11:00am & 1:00-3:00pm, 3-12 hours per month, long-term commitment)
W.I.R.C. Class Instructor: The Work In Order to Reduce Crime (W.I.R.C.) Class is taught every Wednesday from 12:30-3:00pm in the Lower Buckeye Jail. (Wednesdays 12:30-3:00pm, 3-12 hours per month, long-term commitment)
Client Follow-up Instructor: Each month, working clients meet for peer support and to learn relevant life skills such as budgeting, stress reduction, time-management and goal-setting. (M-Th 5:30-8:00pm & Saturday, 4 hours per month, long-term commitment)
Job Developing Assistant: Responsible for aiding the successful job search of St. Joseph the Worker clients by creating resumes and locating job leads (M-F 7:30-11:30am & 1:00-3:30pm, 1-4 hours per week, Short or long-term commitment)
In-Kind Donation Specialist: Main responsibility is to organize and maintain the Clothing Closet. (M-F 7:30-11:30am & 1:00-3:30pm, 1-4 hours per week)
Furniture Mover: Once clients gain employment, the next step is to secure housing. St. Joseph the Worker is able to assist with some of the initial moving costs, including furniture. Volunteers willing to do heavy lifting are a plus. Having your own truck is even better. (Flexible schedule, 3-12 hours per month, short or long-term commitment)
Outreach Assistant: Helps raise awareness in the community about St. Joseph the Worker services and pursues opportunities to fundraise for the agency. (Flexible schedule, 3-8 hours per month, short or long-term commitment)
Office Assistant: Responsible for helping with basic office duties as needed, including filing, copying, data entry and helping with mailers. (M-F 7:30-11:30am & 1:00-3:30pm, 1-4 hours per week, Short or long-term commitment)
