Marketing Coordinator
ASU in the Community
Job Description
The Marketing Coordinator develops and implements marketing strategies to promote ASU in the Community,
www.asu.edu/community, an online resource of ASU’s community outreach efforts.
The Marketing Coordinator is responsible for:
• Marketing the ASU in the Community web site to existing and new audiences via a variety of formats,
including email, web site content, presentations, other forms of written communication, and personal
contact
• Identifying internal and external audiences for the web site and strategies for reaching these
audiences
• Leading the strategic expansion of the web site’s newsletter distribution list
• Introducing the web site to new users (inside and outside the university) and collecting feedback on
how to improve the web site
• Assembling and distributing marketing packets
• Acquiring, editing, and writing announcements and opportunities for the bi-weekly newsletter
• Maintaining relationships with newsletter contacts and strategic audiences to increase web site
awareness and newsletter distribution
• Writing or editing copy to be used in marketing materials, on the web site, and in marketing reports
• Tracking web site usage statistics; reporting on trends; identifying opportunities for improvement
• Developing appropriate assessment tools to measure success of marketing plan
• Coordinating marketing and promotional events
• Developing marketing materials (in conjunction with graphic designer)
About ASU in the Community
ASU in the Community is an online resource of ASU’s community outreach programs. The site demonstrates ASU’s commitment to the region, while also serving as a tool for identifying specific programs and linking to a network of people engaged in the community. The site is rich in content (more than 1,020 outreach opportunities, GIS maps, census data, features on programs, links to other resources) and tools (search, map, adding/updating programs, feedback forms). There is also a permanent link to the site on the ASU homepage (left side, under Quick Links).
Qualifications
Knowledge of marketing principles
Self-motivated and detail oriented
Ability to work independently
Effective communication skills, including strong writing and presentation skills
Opportunities
Student workers enjoy a comfortable, fast-paced, non-traditional work environment with other creative,
motivated students.
15-20+ hours per week, flexible schedule
$8.50 to $9.90 per hour depending on skills and experience, with opportunities for increases
Opportunity for internship credit
